Features Enhancement Fundraising Drive - Announcements

Dear members,

As you know, APC’s mission is dedicated to expanding the planted aquarium hobby throughout the world, while helping its members gain a deeper understanding of their own aquariums. In order to achieve this mission, a wonderful group of committed members (the APC Staff and Team APC) volunteer their time to help each of us grow beautiful and healthy plants to showcase in our aquariums. Their hard work has resulted in the two Key Features we’ve come to rely on here at APC: the unrivaled Plant Finder and the Fertilator.

The Plant Finder and Fertilator are in need of upgrades and bug fixes. We want to take them to the next level so that they are even more helpful to the APC community. This requires that we contract a professional programmer who has the skills to carry out this important task.

At the moment, the sponsors and premium supporting members are providing APC with the funds it needs to pay for the huge bandwidth we go through every month. With our budget dedicated to paying for bandwidth costs, we need additional funding to pay for the programmer to upgrade the Plant Finder and Fertilator. It is with this that we ask for your help.

We are proud to announce APC’s Features Enhancement Fundraising Drive. Our aim is to raise $1,000 to pay for the required professional upgrades and services. If you find APC’s Plant Finder, Fertilator and the other APC’s features helpful to you, we ask you to please consider making a donation to our cause.

With your help, we can accomplish our mission in providing our community with quality resources to expand and improve our knowledge of planted aquaria. Please consider making a donation. Every little bit helps.

Making a donation is simple. You can make a donation to us via PayPal.
The email address is admin@aquaticplantcentral.com. Please remember to include your username in the additional notes field when you submit.

A couple of incentives:

1. APC Pet. Some of you have seen the moderators sporting nifty new pets under their names in posts. These are the new APC pets. For a donation of at least $20, you too can have one!

Like all pets, these get hungry, can be tempermental and grow. You can simply enjoy watching it grow or, if you are into it, you can pit them against other pets in the battle arena! We've created a whole set of options for you to enjoy. Check it out in the APC Pets area.

At the moment, we have many pets including monkeys, spiders, griffins and even dragons. However, as this is an aquarium plants-focused forum, we will shortly be adding a series of aquarium plant pets. Yes! Imagine yourself sporting a nice Rotala macranda pet under your username! Or, take our your frustration having your pet beat up on a Red Beard Algae pet in the arena!

N.B. These pets are completely optional. They are only intended to be fun and in no way should be interpreted to be a change in our top priority of providing quality information on the planted aquarium hobby.

2. Goal Thermometer. As you have seen, we have placed a large thermometer in the header of the site. This will be used to track our progress. The sooner we reach our goal, the sooner it will leave.

Hi everyone!

As you can see from the big thermometer in the header that we are currently at 68% of our goal. On behalf of the members of APC, we want to send a heartfelt "thanks!" to all of those that have made a donation.

As the song from the 70's goes: Come on people now. Smile on your brothers. Everybody get together, gotta donate to APC's enhancement drive right now!! Maybe that isn't exactly how it went, but it was something like that, as I remember????

WOW! I'm really surprised how many people have donated so far. This drive has only been on for a few days, and we're already more than Half way there! I'm proud to be apart of such a generous and friendly community.

For those who have donated $20 or more for your digi pet, once my "Horse" comes back alive I'll see you in the Battle Arena! If you're wondering, my digi pet was K.I.T. (Killed in Training). OOPS!
