Exclamation Do Not Click The Suspicious Video!!

It has come to my attention that a suspicious video has been getting posted in our pictures sections for the past week or so. After some analysis this file has been found to be a backdoor virus and we are doing what we can to stop this malicious person from posting the file. Until then we are warning all members not to click on this suspicious video. The file name will be as such:

videoname.php.wmv - insert the filename of your choice

DO NOT CLICK ON THIS FILE as it is a malicious backdoor trojan virus. If you find that this file has been posted again, please report the post to a moderator or myself and do not click the link. It seems this person has many IP addresses at their disposal so blocking by IP does not look to be of any help in solving this.

If any of you have clicked on the file and downloaded it please delete the file, update your virus definitions, and run a system scan.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have some sort of block in place soon.

The APC Staff is hard at work to make sure this file is deleted as soon as possible to limit the problems that may arise from it.

Hi Jason, you could alter the "newreply.php" or the "newthread.php" to detect (e.g. scan for) such postings. If any maliciuos stuff is found, you could hide them untill they are moderated. Is that an idea? You could also (temporarily) add a captcha, or maybe another method, where you ask a question about the hobby. For instance:

"What does the term RO mean?" and a text field. Only if the users enters "Reverse osmosis" they would be able to post. This is more user friendly then a captcha, and harder to crack for a bot.
