1G - Just had it lying around, was my first tank ever.
2.5G - My first nano, used to practice the finer, tinier aquascapes
5G Cube - Just got it, gonna try to put together a scape for it.
My dilemma: I've got a bunch of medium-tiny crypts in a couple of growout tanks. I've got a bunch of shrimp in another. I'm downsizing, and my breeding stock of shrimp will only fit in my 20 gal. OTOH, some of my bigger crypts will only fit in the 20 gal. IME, shrimp & crypts = no more shrimp. Maybe the shrimp will get a growout bin....

I have a 0.4 gallon would-be nano. These look better on my desktop. I kind of like the 10 gallon nanos since you have more planting space. Just my one cent...

I got five 15 liter nanos. In fact they were my experimental mini tanks. After the inexpensive tank contest announcement they became my nanos.

A good nano size is completly subjective. I know people who have 400 or more liter tanks and still call them as nano!

I bought a 12 gal deluxe Nano in January to try a mini saltwater tank. My first one arrived broken-- so I'm only 6 weeks into having it (the replacement) set up. So far it's been quite the adventure, as I have only had planted freshwater tanks until now. I like it though. It seems the addiction continues in a whole new vein. LOL!!

Converting over from marine where anything less than 30g is generally considered a "nano" I agree with fgencoz that "nano" is a relative term. I bet almost everyone here has probably started this hobby with a goldfish bowl or 10 gallon tank from Wal-mart and has since moved on. Nowadays 55g tanks seem to be the norm with hardcore aquarist keeping 100-300g tanks. I just purchased my biggest tank ever by far, 120g (for my oscar) but I still keep plenty of 5-10 gallon tanks around just in case I get a wild hair. I can throw a tank together in about 15 minutes with stuff I've got laying around. To me a 10-20 gallon tank is almost perfect, it doesn't take up too much room, it's inexpensive (both in equipment and electricity), if you get bored you can tear it down and do something else but it's still big enough to fit my giant clumsy hands in.

I just set up a 2.5 and next on the list is a 5 for my daughter, then will be a 10 gallon that will double as a breeder for Rams

I have 2 10g nanos at home. One is finished and one is getting ready to be ripped apart and done "right".

I also have a 1g betta bowl at work that I'm going to set-up and bring my female betta to work. The oinker is eating the shrimp's food and looks like she is going to POP!!

I've got a 2.2g cube at the office, a 3g betta tank, and a 5g Endlers tank. The last two belong to my daughters.

The only one that could pass as a truly planted tank is the 2.2 cube, but it's not currently my favorite. The scale throws me off and I find that it's difficult to work in it with my fat hands. It's too small for CO2 to be practical and I'm not disciplined enough to add Excel regularly. So, it's not trimmed well and there seem to be frequent algae issues with it. It does look fabulous when cleaned-up though.
