Mine started out in the living room and dining room. I soon got tired of getting yelled at by my wife for splashing water on the carpet so I moved them to the basement along with my computer. Now i have 5 tanks surrounding my desk in what to my wife now refers to as "the man cave" lol

The observations regarding the focus, location and methodology are very interesting and quite reliable I believe.

I am in the fish-are-there-to-enhance-the-plants group and fish-are-there-to-eat-algea-and-to-create-movement-over-the-substrate subsection. There are three rooms in my basement, one for the planted tanks, another one for the computer and library (internet for APC and tons of aquarium related books), and the last one for the home-theater (my other hobby). There are planted tanks also in my office and nano planted tanks in a common room.

I have a nice basement in my house. My wife calls it my domain, but let me tell you as we get older and she collects more stuff I fill MY Domain get even smaller. I have only one tank in the movie or tv room now and my remote control hobby shop has turned into my tank room. They used to be in every room of my basement.

Im felling a big surprize coming. My wife is going to come home. Im going to design a nice tank a big one right in the middle of here living room LOL. Im going to tell her "well I sure cant move it now". LOL Then she will redesign the living room around this wonderful aquarium. LOL Shoot there I go dreaming again...

Nice Poll

Well, I'm only 17, so my bedroom obviously. I have a Biowheel and the sound relaxes me. I have a 'fish corner' where I have 3 10gallon tanks. I'm just starting to plant them. I'm also setting up a 29 gallon near the head of my bed. The tank will be on a south-facing window, so it's good placement IMO. But if I owned the house I'd put my 29 gallon in the living room. Kind of to show off I suppose.

In the basement. My wife thought the tank would smell like a swamp so It was placed in the basement. There's a 37 inch flat screen hooked up to hi def there so I don't mind. She doesn't mind because she gets the 42 inch flat screen in the living room. She now realizes she was wrong, it doesn't smell like a swamp.

I have 9 tanks up and they are all in the same room. I am a bachelor and they are in this room to keep them all warm and I think my fishroom resembles Rupey's "Man Cave"
Also from a maintenance perspective, I find it much easier than running from room to room for daily and weekly routine jobs in the tanks.
I actually call this room my "Fish Nook".
Also my computer is in here too and That is also convenient when i have any questions and stuff.

One is in the bedroom, another in the computer room (basically our living room), and one in the kitchen (betta nano). I used to have one in the dining room but I tore it down and consolidated it with my ten.

Wow, where to start!

Currently I have two sitting on my computer desk, both were invert tanks until my 3yr old son dumped an entire can of food into one of my other tanks and I had to quickly move fish around. So I have a 10g w/a black koolie loach, a gold weather loach, a pink w/purple metallic half moon plakat, L-201 hypancristus inspector and a handful of CRS. On the other side of my monitor I have a 5g w/CRS, a purple metallic half moon plakat and a single Cambarellus patzcuarensis sp. orange/brown female.

In the kitchen I have another CRS tank (6g), 3 nanos (1-1 1/2g cubes) and a 5g hex that will house green shrimps when they come in. I have another 2 10gs in the living room for the moment, but I haven't decided if they will stay there since the bottom tank is the one I am having to gut and start over.

In my entryway I have a 29g that is my "show tank" until I put up my dream tank, but it will go in the bedroom.

BTW, all of my tanks are semi-low tech soil based heavily planted tanks, including the nanos.
