Very interesting theory! I guess I fall into the "common area low-tech female hobbyist" category, though I am moving towards being more high-tech as I learn more.

My 30 and 55 are both in the living room. The girlfriend likes the goldfish tank (55) better. Obviously I like my planted tank better!! But since I do all the maintenance on both, the 30gal gets the more prominent placement I also have two 2.5 betta tanks in the office. If I had my way (and enough outlets and more money to pay the electric bill), I'd have a planted tank in every single room and the goldfish would be relegated to a smaller tank so I could steal that one for plants!

On a related note, does anyone have any information about why this is such a male-dominated hobby? Is it the chemistry involved? The DIY plumbing and lighting? I know there are plenty of women out there who are capable of doing this stuff as well as any guy, I just mean I wonder if it discourages some from even getting started.

I have 17 fish tanks. I voted "other" since ours are scattered throughout the house. We have 2 in the office, 1 in my bedroom, 3 in the guest room, 1 in the livingroom, 1 in the dining room, 1 in between the living room and dining room, 1 in one part of the basement, 5 in our basement "fish room" and 2 more in another part of the basement. That should add up to 17.

I am more into the fish than my husband but he enjoys them too.

In the living room... a bookshelf with a 1g bowl and a 1.5 hex, 15g next to the couch.

In the bedroom...a 52g.

My place will be seaworld before you know it. I have friends joke that one day I will have an aquatic waterbed so I can sleep with my fish.

I have 3 tanks in my living room - a 44 gal corner tank, 33 gal, and 20 gal. I recently set up a 29 gal in my bedroom in front of a south-facing window and the plants just love it. Trying to figure out where to squeeze in the 30 gal tank my brother just offered me. It WILL fit, I just don't know where yet.

I have a nice basement in my house. My wife calls it my domain, but let me tell you as we get older and she collects more stuff I fill MY Domain get even smaller. I have only one tank in the movie or tv room now and my remote control hobby shop has turned into my tank room. They used to be in every room of my basement.

Im felling a big surprize coming. My wife is going to come home. Im going to design a nice tank a big one right in the middle of here living room LOL. Im going to tell her "well I sure cant move it now". LOL Then she will redesign the living room around this wonderful aquarium. LOL Shoot there I go dreaming again...

Nice Poll

Well, I'm only 17, so my bedroom obviously. I have a Biowheel and the sound relaxes me. I have a 'fish corner' where I have 3 10gallon tanks. I'm just starting to plant them. I'm also setting up a 29 gallon near the head of my bed. The tank will be on a south-facing window, so it's good placement IMO. But if I owned the house I'd put my 29 gallon in the living room. Kind of to show off I suppose.

Default Re: WHERE are your aquarium(s) located?

4 tanks....
2 in the living room, one in a roomates room, and the sweetest of all is a 55 right at the foot of my bed. I go to bed looking at my planted tank and wake up in the morning to it too. What more could I ask?
