Plant Points: 4500 | I only have a few of mine named, generally they are the larger fishes, my bichirs, jack dempsey, and my lone angelfish (in order: Nessie, Po, Maximinus, & Spike). The little guys, like tetras, barbs, rasboras, and rams, don't get named... probably this is because I can't easily tell them apart and as schooling fish they seem to lack individual personality. |

Plant Points: 9600 | I put not sure, not because I am not sure if I name my fish or not, but because it was the only thing other than yes or no. All the fish in the house are mine, but my wife has names for our gold fish and bettas, but not any other the others. Personally I call my otos, 'oto', bettas 'betta' and everything else 'fishy'. I don't know if I would consider those names or not, so actually, not sure probably was the best choice after all. |

Plant Points: 8905 | This is an angelfish named Sheriff. I think need to explain the history of this particular fish though as that has some bearing on his behaviour now.
When I went to my lfs to buy an angel I looked for several weeks befor this particular batch of angels came in. The majority of them were silver dollar size or slightly bigger, but had the worst bent fins. There was one though that was only quarter sized and so emaciated I could see his backbone and exactly where internal organs were. He did have decent form so I decided to see if he would live as he had a spark of interest in the world even though he was bullied by the other angels even as I observed him.
I brought him home and put him in my 5 gallon eclipse. There were micro worms a plenty in there and that tided him over the week it took him to calm down enough to eat food I gave him.
Once he figured out I wasnt going to bully him and I brought food he has been crazy about my wife and I since. For the first year and a half his 20 gallon tank was right beside the chair I sat in a good portion of the time I was home. I lived in an attic apartment and his tank was the first thing you saw comeing up the stairs. He was always at the nearest end of the tank happy to see me when I came home.
I have plenty of stories I could tell on this fish. He is quite the pet.

If it's merely for identification purposes then "that one to the left of the one in the center" is perfectly fine for me. It's like most cats that have been in my life... they simply don't come when I call them. So, why name them? *shrugs* I just call them "cat."
Grady <- I usually answer to my name, or at least stare at you. |

I recently bought a pair of Angels who I named Will and Grace, just because they looked like a Will and Grace to me... I also have a little Perc clown in my salt tank who is going to get a name because he's the only fish in the tank. I'm thinking Jeeves, but I haven't decided for sure yet.
I used to have a huge 17 year old common Plec who was named Moses by friends because when he swam through he parted the water, so to speak. |
