I started out looking for a simple floating plant--duckweed. fredyk suggested frogbit and sent me some. I love the frogbit but am also thinking of adding duckweed, but am afraid to from what I have heard here and there about it....

I had trouble getting rid of it... until I realized Rosy Barbs love the stuff.

No more duckweed.

I don't like it.

When I had floating plants, duckweed can in with them and were a headache to manage.

I have also seen too many ponds and marshes choked to with it. I don't care for those either.

I love duckweed in my breeding tanks and hate them getting into my show tanks. So where do I vote.

I don't know if I like it or not, but I have some showing up Monday. I plan to float it in the sump section of my wet/dry filter.

I chose 'Bane' because it barely hangs to existence, but hardly grows. I want floating happiness! I really like watching it gently swirl around.

It is a race for me between Riccia, Naja grass, and Duckweed on which I hate more. The three of them evidently LOVE my water/tank conditions. There was just a big auction in the DC area and I was absolutely loving the fact that people wanted to buy all of the Riccia, duckweed and Naja grass I had.

Too bad, I just noticed that I missed some Naja grass and Duckweed in the three tanks so it is already well on its way back to taking over.

My Endlers/shrimp tank literally had a green tint from the amount of Duckweed that was coating the top of it.

My 55 has some but there is too much surface movement for it to get a good foothold and the 20 just doesnt let the duckweed start.

If you keep fish that eat it or use it as a fertilizer for garden or lawn it is useful, otherwise it can be a pain.

I like it and have used it for a long time.
