I just came back from vacation in SF from NYC and decided to go visit AFA on my last full day, a Tuesday, only to be disappointed that it was closed. My flight was Wednesday at 1:30pm and the store opens at 11am, which cut too close for me to go. I was willing but my girlfriend didn't like the idea. Can anyone explain to me why AFA along with most eateries in Japantown are closed on Tuesdays?
I'm pretty sure most business around there are family owned, so everyone have to have some time off. It just happen to be Tuesday there in SF. Which is unfortunate for you. It's the same here in Houston in some area. But I think it's changing due to all the new competition, which is good for us.

Is there something about the area that the stores are closed on Tuesdays only?
