Default ADA Lily Pipe

I'm considering upgrading my spray bar to a lily pipe. Are they more effective at moving water? When using CO2 mist i.e. through an ADA Pollen Beetle are the dynamics of the water flow, using a lily pipe, specifiicly designed to distribute the micro bubbles accordingly?

Finally would a P-6 ADA Lily Pipe be suitable for a 67 gal. (36x18x24H) with an Eheim 2028? I understand the hose size is 17mm.

I wouldn't say it is "better" at moving water, but it does create a very nice flow when matched correctly to both filter and aquarium size. There are some definite hydrodynamics invloved in the design, and one of my favorite things about a Lily pipe is the ease with which you can aerate at nighttime. Surface film of any kind is a distant memory, for sure.
Regarding the CO2 dispersion question, I find that the positioning of the Lily Pipe on the side of the aquarium as opposed to the back and the placing the diffuser on the opposite end is a VERY effective way to thoroughly distribute the tiny bubbles produced by the ADA diffusers. I don't know if I could go so far as to say that the design has a specific relation to bubble distribution, though. It's all part of an overall system.

The P-6 17mm would be ideal for both your tank and filter size.

Thanks Jeff.

Would you recommend fitting the lily pipe centrally on the side of the tank, obviously the pollen beetle fits in the opposite rear corner? And where is the "best" position for the intake.

Exactly how easy is moving the lily pipe to aerate? Is it just a question of sliding the unit upward with the suction cap remaining stationary?

Thanks again for your advice.

George

Yes-- central is position is fine. You can put the Beetle diffusers in the corner or use just one suction cup and put in the middle-- it's up to you.

Best place for the intake is usually just next to the outflow.

It os very easy to lift the Lily Pipe for nighttime aeration. You do lift the pipe and the suction cup, though. Just raise it up and stick it back on. The suction cups are very good quality/effective.

Jeff what is the size of the section of the lily pipe that i have shown in the picture? i am talking about the outflow lily pipe P6 17mm.

the reason that i ask is because i dont have an open top tank and there is a 9cm gap between the edge of the tank and the water level.

While we are on measurements of the lily pipes, what is the width of frame the various pipes would go over? I have a regular plastic framed tank and the frame is much wider than the top edge of a frameless tank would be.

An improvement on your site for sales might be to place each size of lily pipe's profile on a measured grid paper to show what the dimensions are for the hook over the tank edge.
