Question Not enough info given on ADA Liquid Fertilizers

I'm thinking about using the ADA Liquid Fertilizer line, however, the information provided by both ADA and ADG is woefully inadequate for the hobbyist. There's really no info at all... just "use the products like this," that's it.

Most other companies (like Seachem) provide this info.

I don't expect I'll get these questions answered, so I probably won't end up using the ADA products (they are just too expensive for products with zero info), but I'd like to at least give ADG/ADA the chance to provide the info and give the customer good service!

Something to consider:

if just following the directions gives you the results you want, does it matter if you know all the details? What do you gain by knowing everything? The only thing I can think of is trying to reverse engineer the formulation to DIY it.

Gomer, you've got to be kidding me. The only possible reason to have an analysis on fertilizer content is to reverse engineer it? Come on man!

What if you want to control specific levels of one or more macro or micro nutrients? Or come up with a custom dosing system? Or want to dose another product, but aren't sure if it's already contained in the ADA products? Or just want more insight into their methods and philosophies?

I'd love to know this info, add me to the list of people who would like to know!

While I agree with your questions about the contents of ADA ferts because I too would like to know, you can't blame ADG in the least for the lack of info. They are simply a distributer, not the manufacturer, and their customer service is out of this world!

Seriously, from a marketing perspective, saying "adding X amount of Brighty K increases potassium by X ppm" would help sell more product. Seachem knew this from the start.

For some reason I feel there are lots of secrets that lies between ADA products. I can't see how one cannot dose N and K and have such a beautiful tank. But I would like to know more about these products as well.

Suggest you look on the back of the box and learn a little Japanese....There is actually some info there. Have you tried e-mailing ADA in Japan? They speak perfectly good English and have responded to my questions in a timely fashion. I'd also read English copies of AquaJournal-you'll find that contains information on what is in these things. Basically, exhaust all possibilities before giving them grief about it?

I use them as directed. I more or less gave up testing. I use ADA AS+PS Special, plenty of light and CO2. What do I get? Best result so far. I think this is a line of products focused on those of us who care more about the results, less how exactly we get there. As far as my (and others) experience goes, ADA have done the work for us already-I'm happy with that. And as far as marketing goes, results speak for themselves. I don't see Seachem showing all the great planted tanks they've grown...
