Default Phyton Git

Hi all,

Does Phyton Git provide the same BBA-killing effects as Seachem Excel? I'm looking for something to blast away BBA while I correct my CO2. I know the whole shebang about CO2 and BBA; I'm just looking for a biologically safer way to turn BBA white.

What are the additional benefits of Phyton Git too?

Thanks!

Direct quote from ADA 2006 catalogue.
"Aquatic plants are known for secreting phytoncide to protect themselves from diseases and germs. Phyton Git is a formula which works gently with naturally extracted Phytoncide, as well as other disinfectant agents and helps aquatic plants to regain their natural strength. Promotes secretion of anti-germ substances and removes green algae.
Have not used it personally so can't comment on its usefulness.
However, I've been using ADA's other products including STEP series, ECA, and green gain since july; they have done their advertised job very well.

I like using phyton Git. I do believe that it does help remove algae. Not extremely quick at it but it you apply it directly(not diluted) and let it soak for a bit it does work. Best thing is I have yet to see it damage a plant yet. I hope this post doesnt start some ADA product bashing or anything. Just my experiences with it.

I think Phyton-Git would help moreso if you were able to apply it directly to the affected area. Honestly, EXCEL knocks it out much faster from my experience. I double dose it (maybe even triple) after water changes at the first sign of BBA type algae.

The thing I dont like about overdosing Excel is that it can harm the plants and fish if done too far. I know cause I have done it more than once. With the Pyton Git it doesnt hurt anything, but is not as strong or quick.

Yes I was thinking of applying it directly.

Well it seems Excel does a better job after all. Thanks!

Have any of you ever had issues with heavy dosing of Excel doing damage to your mosses? I have willow moss and christmass moss that both seemed to have been effected by 2-3 times dosing of excel to deal with GSA.

Absolutely! Do not over dose with Excel if you have mosses. I knew it could affect vals & anacharis, but didn't know about the mosses until recently. It turned all mine black!

Like I stated early overdosing the Excel can hurt/kill plants and fish/shrimp/snails. I have killed alot of different varieties with it.

Wowzers. I have never killed anything with it, but then again I am probably not hitting it as hard as some others. My primary dose is after a water change.
