I'm a bit confused by the foods ada is offering which one would be good for cardinal tetras/schooling fish?

AP-1 or AP-2 would be great. The "GOLD" series just has added plankton and would be fine as well. The numbers 1,2,3 indicate granule size. AP-1 is really fine and good for small tetras- and also good for wild caught tetras that are sold very small. I've found really tiny fish that are new in the tank either don't feed very aggressively or tend to "spit out" food that's too large a granule size or too "hard". The ADA foods have a nice soft texture and again- are sized so that even the tiniest fish can eat it. The AP-3 gets you into a foos sufficient for Angels, Congo Tetras, larger tetras, even Discus. I have always had a problem with when I grind food up for small fish, it gets pretty messy on the surface- maybe leaves film, etc. These foods are very clean and won't cause an oil-slick in your tank.
