I've read most of the Amazonia and Amazonia II threads here and at other forums. I've read all of Jeff's comments about it that I could find.
I guess that it will be Amazonia (original) then.
Thanks for taking the time to explain your experience with them.

I surely dont know anything more about it beyond my own experiences. I probably should've seen what has already been discussed on the subject so as not to be repeating obvious stuff that's been said before. Just thought I would add my experience to the "records of time"
Hope the new Amazonia tank turns out well!--I know it will.
How could you go wrong with Aquasoil?

You're more than welcome to tell me your own experiences. I'm all ears.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't coming across like I was the expert and know everything--blabbing a bunch of hot air. Especially when talking to someone who probably already knows more than I do. Thanks for letting me share my experiences, I know every case is different and I like to know how things turn out in each situation. I feel everyone's story can contribute something.--so thanks again for letting me contribute mine, and taking the time to read through it.
Have a great night surfin' the APC. (I usually pull myself off of here in the wee hours of the morning--my eyes crossed & bulging out of my head)

Left C, goalcreas, and elaphe if you have completed your projects I (we) would like to hear your thoughts and also anyone else who has tried both. I would also like to know if you had used the other additives (Bacter 100, Turmaline BC, Clear Super, etc.)also. Did you use just AS or did you use the powder on top? I have heard comments that nothing grows plants like AS, do you really see the difference? I need new substrate and am trying to decide what to get also. Thanks in advance for the help.

Brian | I've tried both using AS with and without the additives(Bac 100, Tour, etc...). In my opnion, you will still get good results in terms of plant growth. However, the addition of these additives will only enhance and not hurt the process. All I can say is you won't be disappointed with ADA products. |

Amazonia is richer and will have more "side effects" in a newly set up tank, aprticularly in harder water situations (which is most of us in the US). These include cloudy water, a slight brownish/tannin color that can linger for some time, and overall all a tank that needs more hands-on and management when it is new. But the overall growth rate and intensity will generally be better/faster, all other thing being equal.
I have done many tanks now with Amazonia II, and it is great too. The growth rate is a little less intense, and I find I need to take a more standard approach to water column fertilization (whereas with reg. Amazonia I am able to keep it leaner for a longer time). The water is really clear from the get-go-- no hazy or tannin tinged water at all.
Both grow plants really great-- Amazonia I is just a richer mixture. The color of Amazonia I is just a tad darker too.
I will have regular Amazonia back in stock in about a month. I was experimenting with offering just Amazonia II, because I feel it is really effective and easier for the average user, but regular Amazonia is an integral part of the line, and I personally prefer it, though I consider myself an advanced user who knows how to and doesn't mind managing the "side effects". |
