Well I don't know how the Regular Amozonia affects my tank chemistry yet. I got my Powdered Amozonia and man that stuff looks awsome in my hardscape so far.

I was considering just carrying Amazonia II until I encountered it's lackluster performance (by comparison to regular Amazonia) over the long term, plus "dusty" issues reported by many other users. .

So now I just recommend regular Amazonia in all applications without needing to use RO water or any special methods. I do always use NA Carbon AND Bamboo Charcoal in new tanks, and have found also that using the GREEN BACTER very specifically how the instructions say to for the first week is reducing initial cloudiness issues BIG TIME. My 120-H iwagumi at my house (with only sparsely planted "broad-leaf" tenellus) is extremely clear after 10 days. I hnestly have not used the Green Bacter consistently and underestimated it's power to help clear the initial cloudiness of Amazonia.

Bottom line-- stick with regular Amazonia for the bets results. This is a live and learn situation, like everything else in life.

Unfortunately when I started this hobby, I never got to experience the wonders(and frustrations) of Amazonia original! All I can say is that with Amazonia II its taking longer than expected to get a nice HC carpet but I was chalking that up to novice planting technique.

I must say though that I never had an issue with cloudy water or dusty plants with Amazonia II maybe because I use RO/DI water. I use Green Bacter too. Soooo, I assume that if I rescape someday with original Amazonia cloudiness/brown water won't be as much of a problem long as I use RO/DI water + charcoal, correct?

As for ADA Green Bacter.
From: A primer on high-capacity filtration, Aqua Journal #34 Eng.

"Optimal Filter conditions
Filter conditions сan be determined by the сongelation (solidified form of baсteria) of organic sludge produced by activities between the protozoan and bacteria.
lf the form of сongelation is visсous and firm, aerobiс life is energetically more efficient. Conversely, if the congelation particles are found to be loosely scattered, the biological activities become less evident. Should such circumstance oссur; it сould lead to deterioration of water quality if left unattended – congelation particles will float sporadically, turning the water cloudy. While some aquarists may resort to the use of UV sterilization lamp to clear the water, such measures will not provide a long term solution as UV sterilization will exterminate all beneficial bacteria in the filter as well, resulting in zero biological filtration.

Clarity of water in your aquarium
The organic detritus, which constitutes the main component of dirt in the water, is subjected to bio degradation by bacteria. The degradable end products include ammonia and dissolved organic compounds. If the filter is functioning well, newly formed biological bacteria will propagate rapidly. These bacteria are usually returned back into aquarium. Often, this leads beginner aquarist to believe that the “water being perpetually dirty”. Murky water resulting from the filter should not be a major concern as the returned organic particulate will be further broken down and consumed by protozoan like Amoebae and Zolium."
