They ship in those mailing tubes and maybe that's it. The weight of the calendar in the tube is entered in for the product and the various companies (UPS, FedEx) are "live rates" based on that weight. That's about all the control I have over it. To ship 1 pound by UPS starts at about $5.00 it seems. Sorry-- I am not trying to make money off the shipping, trust me.

I just checked and the calendar in the tube is a smidge over 1 pound, so UPS and FedEx-- in their infinite wisdom and corporate savvy-- round up to the next pound. So 1 pound 1 ounce = get charged for 2 lbs. It's just a standard, smallest-size-that-works mailing tube, so I don't think I can do much about it.
