Default ADA Substrate WOW!

I ordered the ADA substrate quite a few months ago, and then patiently waited for it to arrive so that I could evaluate it, as the owner of an aquarium plant nursery where we actually grow most of our own plants I have tried them all. I am convinced after three weeks of the substrate being set up that Amano has finally figured out how to put a substrate together like no other substrate before it. I purposely put spindly, close to death plants in there including Eusteralis Stellata, Limnophilia Aromatica, Rotala Macrandra, Rotala Wallichi, and a few other varieties, all from nursery tanks that were not doing well or ignored for some time due to a need to revamp the substrate and water columns. Within two weeks all of these plants were increasing in size and color and honestly I have never seen anything like it before. The stellata's stem size increased to thick from thin, even some glossostigma with tiny leaves increased their leaf size dramatically. This is a tank with higher light and CO2 of course, but wow! I am definitely impressed! I initially dosed the water column with liquid ferts but have not since and phenominal growth continues! I used the Amazonia soil wth the Power Sand Special underneath in case your wondering which one.

Hey Don,

This is what I have been trying to tell people since '96 when I started using it. I won't use anything else. I think this is one of the best products ADA carries. I am glad to see more people evaluating Aqua Soil. So far I have heard nothing but praise of Aqua Soil.

Good luck to all!

Every aquarium hobbyist in Hong Kong said if you wanted a good planted tank, you need ADA substrate. I actually saw this in action, nearly all of HK's planted tanks are from ADA substrate. The substrate is decent priced about the same as Seachems and Eco-Complete. Now if I had the money...

I am having similar success with ADA substarte system. I have the same set up of power sand special and amazonia on top. I intentionally put in a load of near death tonina's and after 2 weeks they are coming back to life. I am blown away. My rotala roots dug thru 8 inches of substrate within 5 days and is growing like a weed. Macrandra, Cuba, and Pantannal all doing way better than I thought. Although I just recently ran into a green water issue, I am sure it was my fault. Dosing when I should of left it alone for at least 3-4 weeks.
