My second attempt at creating a scene utilizing the concept of Sanzon Iwagumi. I did it once with my 10-gal, but it didn't last very long due to lack of maintenance. However, I didn't give up. Here is the initial set up of it. Any comments/criticisms welcomed

can i be honest and tell you that something doesn't seem quite right with this layout. For me, anyway. Is the picture posted in reverse somehow? i feel like the two rocks which are currently on the right would be perfectly placed in the same positions on the left, and vice versa. there seems to be something uncomfortable about it, but i can't work out what it is. I think the fact that the rock at the back right is so obscured is weird. It wouldn't be, if it the layout were a mirror image of the current design.

I hope you don't mind my honest opinion. Please consider this "constructive criticism".
I hope to see more pictures of this in the future. I know its fun to move stuff around, so can appreciate your wanting to experiment with this.

sorry and please feel free to ignore my comments!!

BEN

First I've heard of such a style. It's different (which in my vernacular is a good thing ). What is that on top of the rock? I would guess Java moss, but it doesn't really look like I'd expect it.

Brian.

Of course it won't bother me, people That's why we are all here in the first place so we can become better in this hobby! I forgot to mention, ANY and ALL comments and criticisms WELCOMED!!! So don't worry, Ben

About the set up; the rocks were chosen poorly, I admit. I would've used slightly smaller rocks instead of these three as that would make the whole look less congested. I totally agree, Ben.

BSS, the moss is the Java moss. But you know, recently I've read the research from Prof. Tan in Singapore and he said the nomenclature of the true Java moss is NOT Vesicularia dubyana. So after I read that I wasn't sure if what I have is the true Java moss anymore. I do also have X moss, Taiwan, and Weeping moss. And I can tell ya they all look very different from the Java moss I have.

Lessons learned so far:
Especially crucial in the beginning, a rigid cleaning schedule must be kept in wiping the algae off the glass, changing at least 25% water at least every two other days. In the past I've never changed water; simply topping it off when I see the tank evaporating. That is not enough! The tank glass MUST be wiped frequently. The longer you wait the harder it will be to scrape them darn green hassles off the glass. Two to three days interval should be good enough. Dosing ferts can be done at the beginning BUT must be in less quantity.
