Wow! That really encourages me to keep the blackout technique in my toolbox for when I get the inevitable green water episode. Beautiful Alternathera Reinickii there too!

do i need to turn on my xp2 and co2 when doing black out? The black out will be my last option, i bought some floating plants that help get rid of GW, let see how it works

yes you have to turn off. no use. I was first hesitant about the idea but due to desperation i tried it. and i liked it! I covered the whole tank with garbage bag and made sure that no light will come in. to check if the water is clear i use flashlight.

I have massive green water, no hair algae...*knocks on wood*.

I kept peeking into the tanks, so I think I'll try for a 4 or 5 day blackout. I've taped a blanket down so I won't be tempted to peek!
