Default Newbie Rescape

Hi All
I started my first planted tank 4 weeks ago.
55 gallon
Soil master and onyx sand substrate.
Pressurized CO2
2 Corallife 56 watt

When I first set it up I just placed everything in with no idea where things should be. The first pic is what it looked like then.

After looking at the incredible aquascapes posted here I wanted to do better so I decided to rescape it yesterday. The next 3 pics are what I ended up with. All advice and critiques welcome.

Earl

It's a real promising start but it's kind of a potpourri of plants without a sense of flow or direction. It would be better to reduce the number of different types that you have and than have more of each type. Also, in your foreground, you have plants that are oversized for that position.

Your fish look really happy!

HI Nevermore
Thanks for the reply
I totally agree with you on the potpourri of plants. I guess I got caught up in the newbie phase and did the “ Hey that plants cool give me one of those” over and over. I am planning on going to a 75 gallon with in the next year so I am using this tank to see what will grow for me and learn the ropes.

I have been following the as many different plants as possible in my 90G also. As they grow in, I am starting to develop a real plan

Hey:

I am a new member also and have the same issue... hopefully I will post some pics later. I really don't have much in the fish yet, but the plants got "readjusted just this past weekend. I also have a 55 gallon, pressurized co2 and a quality lighting system. I just noted some new shoots coming off some of the plants when I moved everything around, so the plants like everything. I fertilize every other week. I just found this new site today. Looks good for any info that I may need. Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!
