Anyway. . .

The tank is 60 gallons and will be the permanent home for 3 fantail goldfish, a striped raphael cat and as long as they don't start to bully the goldies, the 6 rosy barbs that I got as dither fish for my old oscar(he was given away because after nearly 5 months he was still a recluse, and the opposite of why I got an oscar. Took me a while after it was suggested to me to actually give him up, and even though I liked him, with his attitude there was no way I was going to be THAT motivated to spend 4 hours a week cleaning a tank for a fish that hated me. It's a longer story than that, but that's the basics of it. . .) and some random little cichlid who the story of is at the bottom of the post.

Plants(so far) are some floating anacharis and water sprite to be munched on(am still looking for other cheap plants to float for them to munch on) and java ferns, anubias barteri regular, nana and petite, a couple of moss balls, some bolbitis, and a few small crypts.

The tank's equipment/decor is a rena xp3, a few pieces of wood that have the plants tied to them, and most of the bottom is covered with sand with slate tiles over it. Easier to clean, in theory. Right now I've only got 30 watts of NO light but can't seem to figure out how much light altogether I can put onto it without needing co2 and ferts. I was thinking just combine the 30 watts on one side and pick up a small pc or t5 light for the other???

The mystery guy in the best shot I've gotten of him so far. When he's got his fins out, he LOOKS like an African Cichlid. BUT he arrived with the feeder minnows at a local store. . . He's getting lighter in colour, from really dark grey to now a medium one, he's got some vertical striping and his fins have a light blue edge on the fronts of them. I'm assuming that the fish breeders wouldn't be dumb enough to put a more expensive fish into a feeder pond, but no clue what he is if not. The only other non-minnows they usually get in with them are crawdads, tadpoles and mosquito fish. So until he starts going after the goldfish he stays with them, after he goes into my crawdad's tank until he starts to try to go after her(he's half her size right now) and then he gets given to whoever wants him. Not a clue myself *shrugs*
