Default Which of these rocks will be good for an aquarium?

72 Gallon Bow is the target. Fine sand around edges, fine pebble with a selection of 6" up to 4' wide stone and perhaps 3 to 6 of them. This will be a semi-hardscape with mainly java fern and plenty of rainbows and hardy guys. Minneapolis water has about a 7.5 to 7.8 Ph out of the tap. I think that's the basics.

Now for your suggestions for the rock type. Out of these three photo's which rock is suitable?

#1)

#2)

#3)

PS>Get a look at my desk view. This is going to be sweet! (this was photo-stitched, BTW)

rocks in group 2 have the best character (those in the back left), but appear a bit large. I'm not a huge fan of 1 and 3 because of their straight cuts which look unnatural. My preferences are in this order 2>1>3

Just get whatever rock looks the best. That's what will really set your aquarium apart from other ones. A rock with a good color too. Like a bright red rock, that would look nice.

In my opinion, smaller rocks look better in bowfront aquariums, as there is a slight magnification effect with the curved glass.

Check out these bad boys!

Top two are sandstone and dissolved right away (whata mess). They looked great but not suitable for a tank.

Large bottom rock has beautiful stripes from being push by glassiers for thousands of years. This will be my center piece.

Kevin, Interesting comment about a bow tank enlarging the image due to its curve. This rock will look massive. It's about a foot and a half wide.

Make sure you do the old acid test before sticking them in your tank.
