Default Driftwood mites...

Hi all! I've been out of the hobby for a few years and now I'm able to get back into it! YAY
I had a 10 gallon set up with hermit crabs and had driftwood in it for them to climb on. The crabs died due to some kind of mite last week. I would like to repurpose the driftwood in my 20 tall I just set up. Do you think the mites from the hermit crabs would be bad for my tetras and plants or do you think they would be a welcome snack? Thanks for any input! Feels good to be back!!

How big are they? I think if they can live outide water, than its high doubtful they can live underwater also. But to be safe, just boil the wood for five minutes. This will kill anything on there for sure

They are very small about the size of a mechanical pencil tip and white in size. I was going to boil it then attach to slate to anchor it but I was worried they would come back and harm my fish and plants.

No the boiling should eradicate them. like i said, chances are they arent going to be able to live in the water if they already live outside of it. i had similar mites in my tree frog terrarium on the wood. i boiled it and they never came back. think they showed up just do to the humid conditions in the terrarium.
