Default Poret Setup

Hi everyone!!
Hopefully life this fall will be much much calmer & we will finally have our lives back and rejoin the club activities.

Some of you may remember a few years ago I toyed with the plan of setting up a poret filtration system in conjunction with one of the goldfish tanks. Pretty sure I drove Nico crazy with discussions about the material, this was about 2 or so years ago. Have cleaned the poret once and will do it again around the 1st of July.
The set up is pulled by an Eheim behind the poret. I just cleaned the Eheim 2028 a few min ago and to my surprise the floss final for polishing has a few areas that remained almost white. Shocker for me since that has never happened. The filter had some mulm..but not just yuck compared to the identical Eheim filtering the 60G cube. Am very happy with the Poret it is doing a fine job with this tank and water numbers are incredible. We have a HOB for Mechanical. This is not a planted tank, in fact it is bare bottom but loaded with Anubias and floating plants & large pieces of driftwood. Most guest cannot tell there is no Dirt..LOL
The poret is actually very simple to clean. Not seeing any break down of the material at all. Ohh and the water flow for the pulling the Eheim is not effected at all. That actually surprised me.

So if anyone is considering adding this form of filtration...it is great.

Hope all is well Karen

Karen - so glad to hear from you again. We have missed you. That's really amazing about the filter. I'm sure only having anubias has helped. Without the substrate and plant debris it's probably a cleaner tank in general.

It'll be good to see you again!
