I'll vouch for Max's ID. I've received this exact plant from him, as well as bacopa sp. They are very different plants which is obvious when you have a scale reference and really pay attention to the leaves.

It may not be B. carolinia, but to say that it looks nothing like it is ridiculous.
I'd like to see a pic. with more of the plant in it.

Maybe I'll get to see the plant in person if Max brings some to the meeting.
