I'm thinking about using one of these on the output of my Filstar XP2 on my 55 gallon tank. My only concern is how the mounting bracket works. The promo literature says that it easily attaches, but it looks like I won't have room for the input tube at the top if I clamp it to the top frame of my stand (All-Glass pine).

If anyone is using this reactor, could you explain how the mounting bracket works and how it fits into your stand?

Thanks,

SL

I've got mine hanging on the back lip of the tank. It comes with plastic leveling screws so you can adjust it to hang straight up and down.

Dunno about mounting it in a cabinet. Maybe someone else does.

I don't have the reactor yet; I'm thinking of buying one. Of course, I'd buy it from this site!

I don't think I can hang it from the tank since I only have about 2" clearance from the wall.

Doomer--did yours come with a bracket? Could I mount it on the wall behind the stand? That's about the only place it would fit and still leave room for the hoses at top and bottom.

Thanks,

SL

The unit comes with an L-shaped piece of plastic that works as a lip that fits over the top of your aquarium. It fastens to the Reactor 1000 so that the bracket faces the aquarium, the lip fastens to the bracket so that it sits over the glass edge and the reacter sits behind the bracket on the side of the bracket that is opposite the tank side. This is the easiest way to mount the reactor on tanks with glass under 3/8".

Or you can leave that liip piece off and hang it on a nail or screw set into your stand.

For aquaira with glass thicker than about 3/8", you'll need a different "lip" piece that doesn't come with the unit but can be gotten from AB through any of it's vendors. It allows a longer reach for the lip over thicker glass. This Reactor 1000 bracket is essentially the same as on the phosphate reactor and the bracket that AB sells for mounting items in a coral tank. Some of those other items come with the heavier "Lip" piece on the bracket and some do not.

Truth is, so long as the REactor 1000 is securely clamped to the tubing at the fittings and is near vertical with respect to gravity, it doesn't much matter how it's attached, you could even strap it with velcro or just let it hang -- it will work just as well.

Just keep it out of sight but where you can get at it if you need to -- sooner or later you'll need to clean the tubing .

Good Luck,

Scott H

My tank is 1/2" glass and it fits with room to spare. My tank doesn't have a plastic rim around to top. For tanks that do, it's the thickness of this plastice lip that will determine if it will fit or not, not the thickness of the glass.

I have a reactor 1,000 and it comes with a wall mounting plate. That’s what I used since our aquarium is so close to the wall. You just screw the mounting plate into the wall behind the stand with some drywall screws and then snap the reactor into place. It works great.
