What plants are typically used for groundcover in low tech tanks?

I've decided to start going towards this end of the aquascaping spectrum...low maintenance

I'm tryuing to decide on a plant that is no more than 3" tall that will spread over time. Via runners is the preferred method of propagation.

I've used dwarf sag in a 7-gallon bowfront tan with 2 watts per gallon of light. In a tank with more light it will grow as high as 6 inches, but in the 2 wpg tank, it stays under 2 inches (and it's a darker green than at higher light). It doesn't spread as fast at low light either, but it does spread, and by runners.

Just noticed this thread:
carpets @ 2wpg?

Some ideas include:

Marsilea spp. (what is this?)

pearlgrass (Hemianthus micranthemoides or Micranthemum umbrosum?)

Tenelus[/list]

Here's a link to a pic of dwarf sag as a forground plant under 1 wpg. It's in the front slightly to the right.

Every now and then, the petsmart in my town gets an unusual plant or two in its standard stock. About 6 months ago, I noticed a plant I had not seen before mixed in amongst the java ferns, labled Micro Sword (lilaeopsis). I purchased it and I'm quite thrilled with this plant. It grows wonderfully in my low-tech tanks, and covers quickly once its established. Although it grows by runners throughout the tank, I haven't had a problem with it choking out other plants.

I've got a carpet of Christmas moss in the front of my 50 gal that is rather pretty. No roots, but the plant has covered the gravel nicely.
