To Diana and anyone else with experience of this: does having a soil or similar substrate mean you can't have burrowing fish like kribs?

I presume that if they got past the gravel layer they would create quite a mess. Pity, kribensis are a favourite of mine.

Even if a fish or snail does burrow, it shouldn't matter. Disturbed soil will settle! As I wrote in my book (pp 134-135), the soils that don't (no bacterial biofilms, excessive sodium or potassium) have certain properties that are not normal.
