Default is anaerobic substrate fixable?


once a substrate has become anaerobic and is producing hydrogen sulfide gas should it be thrown out?

I have stripped tanks down and redone the tank when it has happened.

stripped the tank, dried the substrate, then replanted etc..

IMO it is. I would wash it in a bucket before reusing.

Is it all of the substrate, or just a part of it?

Or you can give it a healthy disturbance, with your hand or something. MTS can help prevent this in the future.
