Default 6X55 AH or Tek T-5 fro 75G

The 6X55 AH kit installed in a canopy would cost me:
Kit 200.00
Bulbs 70.00
Canopy 230.00
---------------------
Total: 490.00 for 4.4 WPG

The TEK T-5 8 bulb Cost (I’m leaning torwards the 8 bulb one cause its 19” wide and the tank is 18” wide which will give me better light distribution.)
Fixture 450.00
Hanging Kit. 30.00
------------------------
Total 480.00 for 5.76 WPG

Ant pros or cons you guys can think of.

I really like the idea of not having a Canopy. Since I have one on my 55G and its a pain to prune and clean the tank. But it does look nice.
Would the Tek fixture leak out lots of light into the room?

I have the Tek LIght fixture and if you can hang it, it is awesome! really nice light spread and intensity. Fixture is really well made as well. I am using the GE Starcoats and find the spectrum to be really nice.

You will find that the 8 bulb fixture is way over kill. I am using the 4 bulb on a 15" wide tank and am getting plenty of coverage. You could easily get away with the 6 and likely even the 4.

I recently bought a 4 bulb Tek light to put over a 75 gallon I have not started yet. The light came with two 6000 and two 3000 bulbs which have a pleasing look to me. Where did you get the GE bulbs and do they have a reddish tinge to them ?

I got mine from www.aqualuxlighting.com ...but there are other sources of this bulb. These are not like the GE9325's at all. THese are a quite nicely balanced 6700K bulb. It is quite white with a very slight blueish/green tint

Which setup would be better for the Tek-Light T5 6 bulbs?

The one with all 6500K bulbs or

The one with 3-6500K and 3-3000K bulbs

Or should I get one without the bulbs and purchase the bulbs separately?
and if I get the bulbs separately which combo of bulbs would be good?
I like the way my 4X55 9325K bulbs look on my 55G So I would like to get
something along those lines.

TIA.
Alex
