Default Canister in/out

I am hooking up an old canister I have not been using for a while, and I realized that the u tubes for the in an out flow from the tank, in addition to being hideous, leak. Woo hoo! Now I get to replace them. What are my options as far as aftermarket and diy. I know about lily pipes, and they seem great, but I am not about to buy some for a free canister. What about the fakes? Anyone using any that they like?

As far as fake lily's go, I have the Aquatic Magic ones and I like them. They are more sturdy than I thought they were going to be. The glass is pretty thick. On my 13mm ones I'd guess they are 1.5 mm think glass. It will take 3-5 weeks for them to get to you.

How do they connect to the hose?

The hoses are slip-fit onto the pipe. Basically the outside diameter of the pipe is a little larger than the inside diameter of the hose. The hose is easily stretched around the pipe then the elastic properties of the hose keeps them attached to the pipe. Just like eheim in and out flow. Incase you're wondering, no I am not worried about them ever slipping off.

Sorry, it has nothing to do with faith. Here is the a video of Takashi Amano's aka ADA's gallery in japan. Plenty of slip fit connections there. Lots of money at stake if they fail. Please use the correct size hoses for the pipes if you buy them. Don't be scared.

Hmm, I might have to check them out, especially since I can't find any other aftermarket alternatives...
