Default Canisters and Nanos

Hello all, I've been considering what I want to do with my 5G shrimp tank. I see alot of people using canisters on their nanos, but when I look at the output, they mention working for up to 35 odd gallons. I once put one of those 55G HOT magnum filters on my 20, and it was far too much flow. How does one manage the flow rate for one of these canisters/tanks? Thanks in advance.

You could put a ball or gate valve on the output

I use a finnex PX-360 Hang on canister .. three of them in total,
all hanging on 4 gal finnex rimless tanks.
I've had great luck with them so far, one is pushing 3 years old now.
I Skip the expensive floss pads and just use bulk floss.
work great, last long, and quiet

i use the zoo med nano 501 on a 10 gallon and its great, i switched from the 511 because the flow was too low but it would probably be good on a 5 gallon. i have heard great things about the finnex 360 and would purchase that too if i came across one.
