Default Quick sump return question

I have a heavily planted, heavy stocked 90g fw tank with a sump. It has a single return pipe and at the top has 2 heads that I currently have facing in opposite directions. Now the question is how far down should I have them pointed? Right now it's about an inch below water and seems to be moving just the top water well. Does anybody else have a sump and how is yours set up.
Thanks

I also have one sump set up with a return jet. It is aimed down a bit and almost straight ahead toward the front glass. In your case, with 2 outlets I would think that aiming them at a bit of an angle left and right is good, and just enough below the surface so there are ripples is best. Too much surface movement is not good.

If you have other pumps (power heads, filters) make sure the combined actions do not cancel each other out.

I've been told to get a stronger pump. To improve circulation, I got two Hydor Koralia powerheads on sale at Big-Als.
