Question Top for aquarium/Will SAEs jump out?

I just got a new light for my aquarium, which has the standard mounts that go on the side of the tank. I currently use a glass lid for my aquarium, but since the lid needs to lay on the sides of the aquarium, that will not work with the light mounts. The light is too large so that I cannot place it in the back and still have access to open the glass lid I currently have.

So, how do you use a lid with the side mounted lights, or what do you do? I have 3 Siamese Algae Eaters that I'm afraid would jump out of the tank of I don't have some kid of lid on it.

Default Re: Top for aquarium/Will SAEs jump out?

Hello!

I, too, have 3 True SAE's. Mine are in a 75 Gallon tank with no lid/top/cover, that has a light fixture with side mounts like yours. They have been there since March, and they have never tried to jump out or escape, nor has any of my other fish.

As long as you keep them happy, and give them no reason to jump out (such as low oxygen or by scaring them), then I doubt they will jump out. But you never know.
