will hydor eth 300w heater heat a 75 gallon tank?

I have a hydor eth 200w in line heater on my 29 gallon tank and absolutely love it. Its not in the tank, its very accurate and heats the whole tank evenly despite when I let my plants get to be a jungle. The 300w Eth says its rated up to 80 gallons. Does anybody have experience using this heater on a 75 gallon tank- in other words, will it actually be able to heat 75 gallon tank which seems at the high end of its rating?
thanks

for right now i will give a little background and mostly pics. i start the background about a week befor i moved 200 miles. i used rainbow rock from lowes and GE 100% silicone on some styro to make the background. it had to sit for about a week befor it stopped smelling and i knew it would take a while so thats why i did it like that. once i got to my new place i fitted the wall in and got some dirt and a cap. the cap is just plain old pool filter sand. i set it up at the end of july maybe first part of august. and i will be posting more step by step pics as i go along. i finaly got some shrimp yesterday and so happy to finaly have some cherrys in there

Using DIY Co2 during the winter??

I didn't want to hijack anybody's Co2 question thread so I thought i'd start my own.....This is my second go round with DIY Co2 in the course of two years so i'm still new at this....During my first attempt everything seemed to work well except the frequent bottle changes were a pain.....but as winter approached and the temps started cooling down I noticed my mixtures didn't seem to be lasting near as long....in fact just a couple of days and it seemed that Co2 production had stopped....always less then a week....I think that was about the time I lost interest in the whole process and just stopped messing with it.

A year later I've watched as my plants have gone to the dogs and algae has taken over so I decided to buckle down and stick with it again....Already i've had issues with the cooler indoor temps seem to keep the production of Co2 to a minimum or non-existent.....in looking for ways to fix the problem I took a 5 gal bucket and filled it about 1/4 way with warm water and sat my Co2 bottle inside that....almost instantly the Co2 production jumped up to a bubble or two per second from one bubble every 15-20 seconds or so.....I kind of expected that and figured it was nothing more then a quick fix, and i'd have to keep the water warm somehow, so thoughts of adding an aquarium heater to the bucket went thru my mind......funny thing is its been over a week now and the water in the bucket has cooled off to room temp but the Co2 production is still going strong which has left me scratching my head wondering why? I thought the heat had something to do with it, but now I don't know.....any thoughts?

Hello Seachem. Had a problem last week resulting in killing off all the Apisto's in my tank. A few neons and Otocinclus and snails were fine. I did an unusually large water change, about 50%, and put in the usual amount of Flourish Excel, a bit of Flora Pride 0/0/3, and some water conditioner Sera makes. Used Excel and the fertilizer before with no problems, I think this might have been the first time I used all three together. Woke up the next morning with the tank looking red under CF lights and dead fish, but then on changing the water the water had a greenish hue in the white sink. The bottle of Excel was the last few ml used, perhaps highly concentrated? Some reaction with the iron reduction process? Bizarre.

I am going to be using a ten gallon tank with potting soil. So basically what would be some good plants to add and what are some good sites I could buy them off of.

This came up in another thread recently and I've seen several members discuss it lightly in other posts. Tex Gal summed it up nicely:

---Quote (Originally by Tex Gal)---
Many people are asking others to pay for their plants and such by choosing "gift" in paypal. There are many problems with this.
1. The buyer has no recourse if things don't work out.
2. The seller can't refund, (he could regift....)
3. It's not honest.

You need to be careful as a buyer and seller if you decide to gift. It means just what it says. You are giving a gift for nothing in return if you do this.
---End Quote---

Number 3 sticks out the most to me, but the other reasons are just as important. Don't select "Gift" unless you really are giving your money away as a gift. If you are purchasing plants/goods/services, then use the appropriate PayPal category.

Here is a deeper discussion (http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/water-bucket/66755-sales-payments.html#post506909) on the matter:

Journey of my dreams

Hey folks,

I just fell into a fantastic opportunity for a tank like I've been dreaming about for years. It's a custom made 72x30x24 inch, 225 gallon aquarium with a custom built stand, canopy, and 60 gallon sump. The original owner is a reef enthusiast who really took his time to make sure the tank was built and set up right. It's going to be a month or so before I get everything settled down and planted but I wanted to get the journal started now. :)

Lighting will be 6x 55 watt AH supply retrofits fitted lengthwise front-to-back. I'm considering attaching them to an aluminum frame that can be raised and lowered for maintenance or adjust concentration as needed to fight algae or slow growth. The goal is to illuminate the rear of the tank more and leave the front as algae free as possible. I've never kept a tank with a sand front but it seems to be a good idea with this one. I really don't want to have to maintain a huge mass of HC or Glosso.

One of the things about this tank that excites me so much is it's pre-drilled for a closed-loop. No need to rig some ghetto over-the-back spraybar like I've had to in the past. This is going to be 100% pure CO2 reactor love. *glee!*

Acrylic sump

Since the tank was originally a reef the owner had the sump built with a separate refugium area. With two downdrafts from the overflow this is going to become a place to breed fish, store cuttings, and/or grow things out for flowers. It's the full section in the left-rear.

Image: http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j97/SwimsWithFishes/leaktest2.jpg

The other nice touch is the electrical work. Everything's wired into the panel of outlets and then hooked into the DJ stations. No more having to unplug pumps, heaters, or other misc. stuff during maintenance!

Sales and Payments

I've been watching an interesting thing happen on the forums these days. I always check out what's for sale. Most buyers use paypal to exchange funds for plants. Probably 98% of all transactions are wonderful and everyone is happy. I see a new trend has been developing.

1. No credit card payments - not to new. It costs the seller a little more for this payment. Some buyers offer a tiny more to cover fees. By paypal rules state that a seller can't charge more to cover paypal fees, but accepting an offer is fine. He can refuse cc payments. While 2-3% (I forget what the extra fee is) seems insignificant to me, at least the seller is up front about things. Buyer still has rights and so does seller.
2. Seller asks people to send "gift" instead of payment for goods. In this case seller is handing over money and has no guarantee through paypal. If he doesn't get his item it's too bad. This is just supposed to be a free service that paypal does for family members, friends, etc. Paypal describes it like this. Seller is not liable for anything. He can't refund this gift. Sellers are not being honest in asking for the "gift". They have agreed to abide by Paypal rules when they signed up. They want to use Paypals services for free. I think it's interesting that they aren't selling their stuff for free. Paypal is a convenient service. They should be paid. Buyers need to beware that if the seller is willing to be dishonest for a few cents or dollars to paypal why should they be trusted with the entire purchase price?

Buyers beware. Sellers be honest. Everybody be happy!
