Gouramis in a planted tank

Hi All,
My wife loves the gouramis, especially the dwarf ones. We have tried several times to introduce them to our 75 gal planted wonderland but they always developed a respiratory issue and die. Do you think they cannot acclimate to the pressurized co2? All the other fish are fine, healthy and happy but the gouramis never seem to make it. Any ideas out there??

Rams - Are they easily stressed?

Hi All,
I recently purchased a pair of gold rams and a pair of blue rams. All stock looked very healthy and happy at the store. However, within 12 hours of putting them in the tank they all developed ick. I called the store to discuss why they sold fish infested w/ ick and they told me that rams stress very easy during shipping and water acclimation and commonly develop ick. They suggested to raise my temp and treat with Aquarsol and they should be fine. Of course, all 4 of them died within a week. The other fish I purchased that day are doing fine and luckily none of the resident fish caught it. I have 75 gal planted tank that is well establish w/ healthy fish and plants so I know it was not my water, etc. Do you agree w/ LFS?? I love the rams and want to try them again, definitley a quartine tank this time though. Any thoughts??

I'm wondering if anyone knows the id of the fish in the picture that ISN'T a furcatus rainbow. The picture kinda blurry, hard to take a pic of it since its in a specimen container for aclimation.

Is it plant and shrimp safe?

EDIT: In case you are wondering, "if you buy it shouldn't you know what is it first?" Well I didn't buy it, I bought 4 furcatus and when I open the bag at home there were 5 fish... kinda weird eh?

eek!whats wrong with my rummies?

So i had around 16 rummynoses about 3 days ago, now im down to 6....:(

yesterday i took the loach that i saw killing and eating some out. But today i found another dead rummynose.... and i also observed that they arent eating as vigorously as before, they dont even swim from one side of the tank to the other, they just swim together in the back, not even going to the surface to eat(before they used to go to the surface even when i just hovered my hand over the top)

the only drastic thing ive changed that im sort of worried about is filter, the filter is stronger and creates quite a current, before that, there was practically no current and the rummynose seemed "happy" and as healthy as can be.

i thought these, out of all the fish ive got, would enjoy the current the most, seeing as how they come from running streams, and my angelfish dont!

ph is 6.05
co2 injected
temps 80F
very low ammonia,nitrite and nitrate
and no fish stressing them out, except for that loach that got what he deserved:snakeman:...lol jk, imma give him to a lfs.

any help plz?

Hey! A quick question regarding my boes. I have 4 in a 55g fairly planted in Eco-Complete w/driftwood along with 4 Silver Dollars, a pair of German Blue Rams, Pictus Cat, Common Pleco, male Betta and one cherry shrimp. 33% WWC w/RO water only. pH is a stable 7.0-7.2, gH is 6, ammonia 0ppm, nitrate 20ppm, nitrite 0ppm. Anyways, I started out with 2 and they started to thread within a week. Same thing with the second pair. They're ravenous eaters, of course, very playful and active and growing otherwise, so what am I missing? Could it be an oxygen issue?

I just got home from the Circle City Aquarium Club auction (indianapolis, IN) and I got some good stuff.

8 angels for my NPT 150gallon (beautiful veil tail zebras)
Trio of Fundulopanchax gardneri
24 cherry red shrimp

and my favorite...
A pair of pelvicachromis taeniatus 'nigerian red' :whoo:

I went looking for apistos. Didn't find any, but still came home happy.

Of course I got some plants too.
Some anubias var, crypts, java fern, aponegeton crispus, hygrophilia
I got a big tub of driftwood for $20, maybe 7 or 8 pieces and the biggest 2 were about 4 ft long!

I wanted the 100gallon tank that sold for $45 but it wouldn't have fit in my car.

Bottom line? Go to your local club auctions. You can find some high quality stuff, occasional rare stuff, and lots of good deals.

Should i add medicine now in case it is?

One Rummynose died the same day I bought them, probably because my pH is too high (it's at 7.6 or higher), but this was also the day I finally got my CO2 system started, so hopefully that pH will start dropping.

This morning I noticed that two of my rummynose look like they've been getting bitten on the tail. Any idea which of my other fish are the *******s doing it, and what can I do about it? I thought Blue Rams were pretty peaceful.

I went to the gf's at 4pm saturday night and came back home around 11pm sunday night and found the fry in less then 2 inches of water.

I promptly poured them into the tank again and they were still alive this morning.

Do not try this at home!
