Hello Seachem. Had a problem last week resulting in killing off all the Apisto's in my tank. A few neons and Otocinclus and snails were fine. I did an unusually large water change, about 50%, and put in the usual amount of Flourish Excel, a bit of Flora Pride 0/0/3, and some water conditioner Sera makes. Used Excel and the fertilizer before with no problems, I think this might have been the first time I used all three together. Woke up the next morning with the tank looking red under CF lights and dead fish, but then on changing the water the water had a greenish hue in the white sink. The bottle of Excel was the last few ml used, perhaps highly concentrated? Some reaction with the iron reduction process? Bizarre.

Seachem Alkaline Buffer vs NaHCO3

Dear Seachem,

I have just had an RO unit installed and am now planning to use Seachem Equilibrium. But I cannot find Seachem Alkaline Buffer in the market at the moment. However, I do have Seachem Acid Buffer that is recommended to be used together with Alkaline Buffer in order to obtain an optimum two-way buffering system (if I don't take it wrong).

Could you please advise whether or not I can temporarily use NaHCO3 instead of Seachem Alkaline Buffer, along with Seachem Acid Buffer? and if I can, in what quantities with respect to the Seachem Acid Buffer? That's very important to me until I obtain Seachem Alkaline Buffer.

Thanks.

My question is how many ML's or capfuls of prime per cup of bleach ?

Establishing a stable pH

I am about to fill a new tank, solely from my rainwater tank for the first time.

How do I establish a stable pH?

I would like to have soft water species (tetras) in my tank, in conjunction with HC and dwarf hairgrass. I believe the tetras prefer acidic water (apparantly ph 6.5 is ideal).

Should I use a pair of products such as Seachem Acid Buffer and Seachem Alkaline Buffer together?

Will my pH stabilise on its own from cabonates in the tank?

What can I do to establish a stable pH from the start, using rain water?

Thanks for the help.

Regards, Fraser.

Hello Seachem,

I have been using your products for quite some time now, but there's something bothering me, it is Seachem Flourish.

1. What is the color of Flourish?
2. Is it brownish black?
3. Is the smell like soy sauce?

If I shake the bottle before use, it's foamy. Since the product itself doesn't has expired date, is it safe to use long after manufactured date? Thank you very much.

Hi
I know the Seacehm Equilibrium is use on RO water for maintaining and increasing Mineral and GH.
I'm wondering if it has any effect on the KH, and PH when increasing the GH as the result of using this product?
Or it depends on the amount used?

Thanks

Water changes?

Not to be lazy, but is it really necessary to do weekly water changes with using your flourish products?

Please don't judge me, hubby and I both work full-time and we have a 3 year old to chase after.

Obviously I will keep an eye on nitrates, I won't be using that product often since my tanks consistently stays at 10ppm, however I don't have a way to test phosphates, potassium, iron, etc.

Will these products build up over time? I usually do a water change once/month.

Should I decrease the dosages from week 1 to week 2, 3, etc.?

I use Matrix in my Magnum 350, an I reuse it. My question, what is the best way of cleaning it for reuse. Now I just rinse it several times. If it's real dirty, I soke it a pan of water with a tablespoon of bleach for 24 hours, an rinse it at least 6 times befor it is reused.. I have several pounds of it, an I let it dry out in between uses...Any info would be outstanding......Thanks.....
