Plant Points: 3600 | Hey there,
I'm thinking its about time that i got into regular PMDD fertilising, but have a question about the trace element part of the cocktail. I live in Japan and am worried that i might not be able to find/explain exactly what i'm looking for. For example, what the heck are "epsom salts" in Japanese?!!! anyway.. i've been using Tetra FloraPride which contains the following ingredients:
Potassium sulfate, edta, iron chloride, sodium hydroxide, dtpa, formaldehyde (as perservative), manganese, chloride, zinc sulfate, boric acid, potassium bromide, nickle (II) sulfate, copper (II) sulfate, potassium iodide, lithium chloride, canadium (IV) oxide sulfate, tin(II) chloride, ammonium
heptamolybdate, cobalt (II) nitrate, demineralized water.
would this work as the trace elements compound mix? i hope so, as that'll be one off my shopping list! If not, whats missing?
cheers

Plant Points: 3600 | Hi Ben,
does Tetra list the ingredients nowadays from FloraPride? I've always found it a very weak solution (it's been over 5 years since I last used it, though).
Maybe you're better of with the chemical symbols of the products you want to order in Japan.
epsom salt = MgSO4.7H2O
potassium nitrate = KNO3
Mono potassium phospate = KH2PO4
With a commercial trace mix, I don't think you'll need anything else. But maybe:
potassium sulphate = K2SO4 or potassium chloride = KCl for extra potassium dosing. |

Plant Points: 3600 | hey Svennovitch..
no, annoyingly they don't write the ingredients.. i had to email them!
I'm going to try and find the other stuff this weekend, tho i'm a little worried that garden-center staff don't know anything about whats actually IN most products! It might look like i'm trying to make a bomb or something!!!
"OH! and before i forget.. do you sell semtex?"!!
thanks for your help.. will let you know how it goes. I just found two LFS near here that i didn't know about, on the internet so off to check them out in the morning.. they look fantastic! maybe they'll be able to help.

Plant Points: 3600 | I am in Europe and had great experience with Greg Watson's site. www.gregwatson.com
Only problem is that he doesn't send all products because of customs. But www.hydroponics.com does send them.
It must be great living in Japan, it's like plant/fish heaven |

Plant Points: 3600 | Yeah, the fish shops here are very good. I've just tracked down two more on the internet, which i'm off to have a look at tomorrow morning (actually THIS morning cos its 1:15!!)
they look pretty stunning, so i'm excited. Haven't found much in the wild to be excited about though.. its generally the normal muddy rivers everywhere!
had a look at hydroponics.com but couldn't really find what i was looking for. Will try again in the morning, when i sobre uq!!
thanks again
