Found these root tabs today for house plants. Do you think this is asking for algae probs etc if I used them, also is P2O5 safe for fish? Below is the analysis;

N 14%

P2O5 (phosphorous pentoxide) 9%

K2O 23%

MgO o.84%

Trace elements;

B 0.02%

Cu 0.01%

Fe 0.20%

Mn 0.02%Mo 0.002%

Zn 0.05%

Many thanx

They do not look at that bad actually, with exception to the phosphorous pentoxide. Not sure if that is aquarium safe. Might try posting this in the aquarium science forum, maybe someone over there will know. The N is kinda high, but not undoable considering how much I have to add. K is good. If I had to say yes or no, I would say no. The P is too high to be considered safe IMO and would propably lead to NASTY algae if it got into the water column. CU looks nice and low and in decent ratio with FE, the rest of the traces look great.

Do they say the source of the N? If it is Urea then avoid them.

And I would avoid them like the plague anyway. Terrestrial plant fertilizers many times cause massive problems in aquatic environments. I know a lot of people use Jobe's sticks as root tabs. And I know a lot of people have had problems because they used them.

Unfortunately it did not say what form the N came from. Better to be safe than sorry, will give them a miss.

Rex, good to see an X 'bootie' here, was in the Royal Marines myself, met a few of your boyz when they came to C.T.C.R.M here in the U.K several years ago!

Glad to meet you. Royal Marines are truly a rare breed. What is the current standing strength of the Royal Marines?

Very small numbers indeed. The current authorized force of the USMC is around 180,000. This includes three air wings, three active divisions and a reserve division. Also let's not forget all the Marines that guard embassies, and serve on board larger war ships. I can remember when I was in the USMC the US Army had a authorized standing strength of 1.42 million, this did not include reserves and National Guard. Now if I'm not mistaken the total authorized strength of the US Army is around it is more like 400,000.

That is a lot of personnel! One thing that used to crease me was the weaponry that the US forces had at their disposal. As a standard issue we were given the SA80 (5.56mm) and you guys given,an old, but still wonderful M16. The only guys who used them with us were the SBS, infact, they had anything they wanted!

Being in the forces now in the UK isn't really the same so I hear, racked with government cut backs and even more crappie politics. I don't think there are to many 'lifers' anymore, most men just do a few years, then come out, but then again who would blame them!

Man if I was in Iraq now I would feel like shooting every ***head I met, illiterate, ungrateful ********, not worthy of the **** on the boyz boots serving out there! I'm starting to think that it needed a regime like Saddam's to keep these heathens in order! Think I'm getting carried away here so I'll shut it!

Good to meet ya mate!
