Is there a recommendation for the amount of sulfur that should be maintained? Are there other sources other than potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate?

Thanks,

-Steve

SeaChem's Flourish contains 0.2773% of Sulpher. Now whether that is the recommended amount for dosing purposes I don't know.

Captain,

Sulfer is a ubiquitous nutrient that is needed by plants in only small amounts. It is always (to my knowledge) present in amounts that exceed plant requirements. I have never seen a dosing level for it.

If you are using distilled water or RO water in your tank then you need to make sure that you add something in the form of a sulfate. Any at all is all that is needed.

You only need about 1/2 the S that you do for the P.
So it's roughly 0.001% of the dry mass of a plant. Not much a bit less than the phosphorus.

It'll be extremely rare to ever see S deficiency in a water system. Ca and Mg issue will appear long before and often the anion for these includes SO4 which is the form plants take up.

Regards,
Tom Barr

Does any real aquarium ever need added sulphur, sodium or chloride. Of course all these are required.

Some limy terrestrial soils benefit from added sulfur.

No fertilizer could be sold as "complete" if it lacked any of these.

But has any real system ever pined for lack of sulfur?
