T5 fluorescent are thinner and smaller in length than T8 fluorescent and yet gives more intensive lighting output (in terms of wattage).
For example, t5 1.15 m gives 54 w while t8 1.2m gives only 36-40 w.

T5 can last 3-5 year without the need to replace it while t8 w'd last 6-12 months.

I use a combination of 2 t8 and 4 t5's.
