Default Inaccuracy of Test Kits - Redux!

Spent the afternoon recalibrating test kits. Found out that my nitrate test kit is over sensitive by a factor of 2.5X!. No worries because I can dilute 4 ml of tank water to 10 ml and test that. Thank goodness for the new(ish) emphasis on calibrating kits. Dodged a bullet this time.....

That's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of our test kits. But smart move with the dilution and redux procedures to get a more accurate reading.

Regardless of the bad attitude towards test kits you know what is in your aquarium now and that is important.

Establishing a baseline, careful dosing, and periodic monitoring is the basis for control. Of course, our tanks are dynamic, so we must remain flexible in our approach.
