Plants need nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, carbon and trace elements, plus adequate light to grow. It doesn't matter if the plant grows under water or in your back yard, the needs are the same. So, you need to provide a source of nitrogen (KNO3, for example), potassium (KNO3, again, for example), phosphorous (KH2PO4, for example), carbon dioxide (or Seachem Excel), a trace element mix (CSM+B, Flourish, TMG, for examples), and about 2 to 2.5 watts of fluorescent light per gallon. You can get the fertilizers at a good price from Gregwatson.com. |
