I'm looking for opinions regarding the types of fertilizers I should be using in my tank. Tank is only about 2 months old. 37 gallons.

Also, looking for recommendations on test kits.

Plants need nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, carbon and trace elements, plus adequate light to grow. It doesn't matter if the plant grows under water or in your back yard, the needs are the same. So, you need to provide a source of nitrogen (KNO3, for example), potassium (KNO3, again, for example), phosphorous (KH2PO4, for example), carbon dioxide (or Seachem Excel), a trace element mix (CSM+B, Flourish, TMG, for examples), and about 2 to 2.5 watts of fluorescent light per gallon. I personally like to use Salifert test kits. Great quality, a tad expensive but not as much so as Lamotte. I dont really test much anymore unless I have an issue though.
