Default Use of Boron...

If Boron is limited it can sometimes block the calcium uptake of plants.

The level in dry freshwater plants is 26 to 382 mg/kg

In Japan, South Africa, and South America the Boron concentration in freshwater is generally below 0.3 mg/litre

Do you think it will be the concentration needed in aquarium?

Most of the time, in natural setup, the concentration is much lower for most nutrient compare to our aquarium. I guess it’s because you get a lot more water movment and the soil is a lot more rich???

Somebody already use boron to recover from a calcium deficiency?

Did you use Boric acid and in what concentration?

Thanks

Default Re: Used of Boron

Boron is the most difficult element for plants to uptake. For some plants a certain level of boron can be toxic and for some can be insufficient. I carried out a few experiments with boron. At GH = 4..5 a boron level of about 0.04 ppm (only RO water) caused plants to stop growing completely. It seems that K levels above 15 ppm can cause some boron deficiency; some leaves turn pale and some look as if they were bitten. You can't use boron to recover your plants from Ca deficiency. You have to dose more Ca.
