Default advise on cheap ferts


Hi
I have a 100gal tank, and I want to add fertilizer for the plants. I only set up my plants yesterday. I have 2 54watt, T5 bulbs, and CO2. But my substrate is only sand (in a year I'm moving house so then I'll put down aqua soil) so I really need to add fertilizer and maybe some root tabs.

I bought a bottle of liquid fertiliser from my LFS, and it cost £9.95 and will only last me 2 weeks. Is there a cheaper way of doing things? I've heard of buying dry fertilisers - is that cheaper, and how easy is it to dose the tank in this way?

Bulk/powder ferts are easy to use. You basically measure out the powder & add to water. Powder ferts is the way to go for large or multiple tanks.
