Default Fertilator Question???

Hello All,

I have a question regarding the Fertilator. In the "Calculation type box": Find Percent Of Nutrient In Water. I then go to "Nutrient" and from the drop down list I select PO4 in Fleet Enema. I want to make a fert solution of 1000ml(1 Liter), and I have a 70 liter tank, my desired ppm is 2ppm. Whats confusing me is where it says "Amount of dry compound added". Since Fleet Enema is not dry, what do I put in that space? Is it what is stated on the box. 19grams of Sodium Biphosphate + 7 grams Sodium Phosphate= 26 grams. The fleet enema comes in a 133ml bottle. So is this correct? I put 26 grams in that space? Thanks for the help in advance. Just to say one more thing, Before I started dosing Fleet Enema, my tank walls were getting covered in GSA and a bit of Staghorn as well, now it has nearly dissappeared. My last fert mix was done using the Fertilator and I added 2 bottles of Fleet Enema to make a mix of 1 liter of ferts, by adding the grams on the box together. From what I have read elsewhere, I have way over dosed Fleet Enema??? I'm confused?? Please help.

Cheers,

Singtoh

Default Re: Fertilator Question???

When I go to the Fertilator and set the aquarium volume to 70 liters and tab to Fleet enema it asks for an amount in milliliter, which is a volume. If I put in 1.1 ml the result is about 2 ppm in your tank.
That means if you put 1.1 ml of Fleet in your tank you will have 2 ppm of phosphate in your tank water.
If your are trying to mix the Fleet with something else (which I do not recommend unless you are a chemist) you need to add the volume of the other stuff to the volume of Fleet. So if you dose 3.9 ml of other stuff and add 1.1 ml of Fleet you will add a total of 5.0 ml to your tank. Since I don’t know what the other stuff is I cannot give you any recommendation on the exact amount to add to your tank but adding 1.1 ml of Fleet will result in a final concentration of 2 ppm phosphates in your tank.

Hello Ray,

Thank you for the reply to my question. I was trying to do it from the "Find percent Solution Of Nutrient In Water" drop down menu, from the fertilator "Main Menu". From that menu it gives you the option to choose Fleet Enema, but it asks you for "Amount of Dry Compound Added" so I was a bit confused because it only gives you Grams, dry. But, from the Main Menu, yes, I see it now, exactly what you are saying. The "Amount of Dry Compound Added" on the other menu threw me off a bit, because, after all, Fleet is a solution. Anyway, thanks for the help Ray, problem solved. I'll just use the Main menu where you said, and do the math. I mix NPK by the liter, so thats easy enough. I read somewhere that someone thought that part of the fertilator, as far as Fleet Enema goes, isn't accurate??? Would you agree with that?? I am using it now and everything is pearling nicely, with no signs of algae in a well planted, long established tank. I can't find PO4 dry here in Thailand. Fleet is the only option, and none of the other calculators I have found on line offer the Fleet Enema option. I'll stick with it, as I see no problems. I like the fertilator and hope it continues to develope.

Cheers, and all the best.

Regards,

Singtoh
