Default Premixed Fert question

Is this ok to use in an aquarium? I've never dosed dry ferts b4 and am definitely a bit confused on what I can and can't use, even after reading through many posts on the subject. I couldn't find just the basic dry ferts anywhere in town, (drat living in Alaska) but this was the closest my local grow shop could get and what the associate suggested I try. Is it ok? Or should I return it?

Well it might be Ok if you only have plants in your tank. It might even be OK with some fish at very low pH.

My opinion; however, like Zapin’s, is that you should avoid anything with ammonia in it. It is toxic to fish.

Hi TarantulaGuy,

Is it really worth taking the chance, the ammonia worries me as well. Even here in Seattle we typically had to order online until one of our LFS started stocking dry ferts this summer.

Thanks for the help! I'll probably send it back here soon. I thought I had remembered reading somewhere that ammonium was ok, but ammonia was bad, but its been too long since my chem classes for me to remember any of it. I'll have to check out some online fert dealers I suppose, shipping lbs of stuff up here is no fun tho.
