Default Question about fertilizer

Has anyone used the PMDD Pre-Mix from Planted Aquarium Fertilizer? Would that be a complete fertilizer to use for my 75 planted aquarium? I am using Flourish Excel right now.

I can not use a CO2 device. Any suggestions as to a good fertilizer to use would be appreciated.

TIA,

I use CSM+B from that source with a little extra chelated iron added in. It's micros, not macros so you'll still need to get NPK together with KNO3, KH2PO4 and K2SO4. Depending on your tap, you may or may not need Mg and Ca added in as well.

Thank you for your comments, Philosophos. I have read several of your post.

This is what the website says is in PMDD:

PMDD Pre-Mix 1 lb contains 1 part each of Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, Plantex CSM+B.

It does not have Mono Potassium Phosphate, and that is part of PPS Pro, I think. I was just trying to find something that had most or all of what is required for PPS Pro.

I'm glad someone is reading them

Ya, PMDD is a PO4 limiting system, which is something the hobby is moving on from. The concept that PO4 causes algae has been gunned down pretty well.

You're not going to find premixed PPS pro or EI. You might be able to get PMDD from dupla; I don't know much about the company though. I wasn't around for the dupla craze, just the ADA one.

Personally regardless of method, I like to keep my KH2PO4 dosing 12 hours apart from the micros. Other K+ based fertilizers will do just fine with it though.

You might find this link to be of some use in the future, it's one I think every hobbyist should have handy: http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/...son_Chart.html
