I just received a new Eheim 2075 and put it into service today. Having had several Eheims previously I am rather familiar with the assembly process, but was curious that there was no pouch of "Vaseline" in the box for sealing the gaskets. I'm assuming the seals must be pre treated, and / or improved. So I assembled, filled and plugged it in. Hope I wasn't neglecting something by not adding the grease to the upper lip of the canister? Any thoughts?
Oh, may as well comment on the filter. I've previously owned a 2222, 2224, a 2026, one of the "e", and now this one. I was impressed with all of the earlier filters, but no so much with the "e". By comparison, it seemed to be more cheaply made than my others. The baskets were flimsy, and plastic parts in general were much thinner. The 2075 I've just received seems far superior to the "e", better made and more like the earlier Eheim's I had. It really seemed to resonate "quality" to me, and hope I am right. Right now it's running like a charm. Set up was easy, priming simple, and it took right off. I really like the new positioning of the filter pads and their holders, and am confident it will be much easier to clean than previous models. Just my 2 cents.
