Default Fish Colorization Question

Fish Colorization seems to be what you would call this. I have fish (Rummy-nose) that have a yellow tint to them compared to Rummy-nose I would see at a pet store for example. What would be the cause of these fish being yellower. This is also the case for the Amano Shrimp I have.

The food I am using is flake food that I have had for many years. O.S.I VividColor 2.2 lb container. I also do not use a UV sterilizer. Would any of this be the cause?

Silly question, but do you think it is your lighting? What Kelvin rating bulbs do you use? Sometimes fish can look different in different lighting.

Could also be the food....

Another thing I can think of is the color of your substrate. Lighter colored substrate seems to make the fish seem lighter colored in my experience.

All of my fish's coloration intensified after being taken home to a stable environment that didn't have little kids hands pounding on their homes

heh yeah, I am sure the kids pound on the tanks all day there. It's funny to see these 10 new rummy-nose running around without a tan compared to all the others in the tank.

But the lights are 10,000k bulbs, so maybe it is a tan! =P

It's true that some do take on a yellow color and others don't and all I can figure is that it's the difference in the water.

I didn't realize such a thing was possible until I picked up a dozen or so of them from Kentucky, and when I brought them home and added them to my original school of Rummies, the color difference was drastic (the ones I added were yellow), so it's definitely not the lighting or substrate color.
