Default Fish Nutrition and Color

As of right now, my 29g heavily planted tank houses 5 Harlequin Rasboras and 5 Threadfin Rainbows. In a few weeks' time, I want to add a breeding pair of German Blue Rams. As of right now, I feed the fish in this tank Bloodworms and flakes (alternating) every other day. Will this diet suffice in bringing out the best possible coloration for these fish? I also feed my 2 Rosey Finned Barbs (housed in my 14 gal grow-out tank) on the same schedule.

If this isn't enough, what should I add to their diet?

i get the best colors from my rainbows and gouramis with brine shrimp and flake food (omega one). in my experiance the more protein rich type products fed to the fish the more they are apt to breed. the more flake food is made from fish the better color. live foods help to.

also making sure the first couple of ingredients listed on the flake food are some type of meat for example my fish food starts with "whole salmon, halibut, seafood mix (including krill, rockfish, & shrimp), wheat flour, wheat gluten" ect..........
by law ingredients must be listed with the greatest quantity on top.
better quality foods start with better ingredients.

my feeding schedule is flake food in a.m. before lights on flake food in afternoon. brine shrimp every 3-4 days.

if im trying to get them to breed i increase the amount of times i feed just smaller amounts and more brine shrimp. my fish eat the flake food as fast and fierce as they do the shrimp. im sure they pref. the shrimp, but have no prob with flake.

You might also try frozen Cyclop-eeze, they're high in carotinoids (sp?) so great for bringing out reds and oranges, especially.

My GBRs spawned just yesterday on exactly that same diet, though- frozen bloodworms and Omega flakes.

I's say feeding only prepared and frozen food will not bring out the fish's full potential. I bought a pair of nice honey gourami last week and fed them live daphnia all week. They spawned yesterday. This was a pair of fish from a fish store well known for poor fish health too.

I boguht a pair of rams 2 weeks ago from a swap and they are almost spawning as well. they're fed daphnia, white worms and the staple of NLS pellets (NLS = new life spectrum). they get BBS when i feed the fry tanks too.

you cant beat natural foods.
